Oxidation
The converters are blown by injecting oxygen in fireproof material lined steel containers holding liquid pig iron and scrap iron, with the addition of lime as flux for making slag. The accompanying elements of the materials such as carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and sulphur are reduced.

Process control

Comprehensive knowledge of the metallurgical operational sequence, dynamic process control and computer controlled alloy medium addition enable an accurate setting for the demanded steel analysis also with direct tap rates of the converter of more than 80%. One can speak of direct tap rates if the analysis is made directly and no after blowing is necessary.
An interchangeable converter plant of latest design makes the converter change possible within shortest time and thereby guarantees highest availability of the converter operation.
